Al Gore documentary on glodal warming

Al Gore, the former US Vice President, seems to come across as a good communicator with his friendly approach and very passionate about his campaign. This campaign being global warming and its effects. He makes it very clear that it is the human race that has caused the rapid speed of which global warming is happening. We are thickening the ozone layer with all our harmful gases. This is thought to be due to the use of carbon dioxide from burning fossils like coal although, he suggests one of the most harmful is that of CO2 gasses.
In the film Al Gore is shown flying business class, using his laptop, a lot I personally feel, and going on a submarine why not use boats which would emit less gasses. If he is, as he suggests, passionate about the earth being greener, then he should show by example. I understand in today’s world we all use technology such as planes, computers, fridges, televisions etc, which we class as normal appliances and take for granted. They are now such an imprint of our world, but is it necessary for him to show it in this documentary, where he is showing the effects of such is doing to the world. I would argue not. He states ‘there are other threats than terrorists‘ meaning the world is in threat though global warming. He is equally to blame as the rest of mankind on this subject and there are many world worries such as our social deprivation, deadly illnesses and unknown bugs, to state but a few. However, it is important for everyone to make changes for the better good but where should we start? We already use recycling, enabling us to produce products far more cheaply and reducing landfills. We could possibly walk for short journeys instead of using the car, use public transport or car share and fly less frequently, but these are often impractical, as people have to be more geographically mobile. I feel that if we start to make these changes then our collapsing economic situation would not be collapsing but would have collapsed. As many people would lose their jobs. There has to be a balance in the changes we make that everyone could adhere to. The documentary consisted of slides showing statistics in graph form, charting the changes in our world from the first recorded material to I believe 2004. In between the statistics and the clips of falling ice, flooding and tornado's, which were very sad and scary, were clips about Al Gove showing how he arrived to be the man he is or was then. The clips showed his past as a child living on a farm and hotels to his own children’s lives, suggesting he became even more determined to look at this work when his young child had a bad accident and spent a long time in hospital. Was this information necessary, would it not of been better to focus on the global events more. He stated that our world is changing to the point that our previous Prime Minister, Tony Blair, felt we would need new maps as the lands fall under water while others dry up. I was personally shocked by the statistics, I had seen images of the changes before, but what Al Gore was suggesting made me stop and think as this could happen in my children or their children’s lifetime and that is a worrying thought. I decided to look on the web for more information and found that some facts that Al Gove was using may be misleading (www.newparty.co.uk/articles/inaccuraciesGove.html) but one should find as much information as possible and make up their own minds, as mankind we all have our own opinions. As Al Gove suggests, it is moral issues and goes deeper than politics and I would agree with that statement.
